The Grafton Donkey Stud was founded in 1969 by Rosemary Cameron. She made a very wise purchase of a 6 month colt, Tatu of Grafton. A stunning donkey, he won over 45 championships, and was retired from the show ring when he won the Donkey Breed Society Supreme Champion in 1978.
She won the Supreme Championship a further two times with her own bred donkeys, in 1997 with Grafton Fleurette and in 2000 with Grafton Francesca.
Rosemary Cameron showed donkeys from 1969 through to 2001. At her first show, Meldreth, she was thrilled to win a fifth place, little knowing that over the next 30 years she would win 174 championships and 124 reserve championships. It was not just her amazing stallions that won, Rosemary had twenty three different champion and reserve champion donkeys.
As well as winning DBS Supreme Champion three times, she won the DBS Reserve Supreme champion four times, DBS Stallion Champion (3), DBS Mare Champion (4), DBS Youngstock Champion (3), DBS Colt champion (2), DBS Filly champion (3), and DBS Gelding Champion (2). She was also runner up in these categories numerous times.
In addition, Rosemary was passionate about donkey welfare and was an Area Representative for The Donkey Sanctuary for many years.
The following images are just a few, and I hope they accurately represent Rosemary Cameron and her lifelong work.
